Verdella
Online DFV recovery program
Verdella: Support beyond crisis

A safe, structured online program for survivors to rebuild and thrive
The impacts of domestic and family violence don’t end when a person leaves the situation. The process of rebuilding emotionally, financially, legally, and socially, can take years. Without the right support, survivors may struggle with ongoing trauma, career challenges, economic instability, housing insecurity and mental health challenges. For businesses, this means increased absenteeism, disengagement and turnover, as employees try to navigate life after DFV without adequate support.
Verdella: Support beyond crisis
Verdella is a self-paced, online DFV recovery program designed by survivors, for survivors to provide long-term, practical support in a safe and accessible way. Trauma-informed and person-centred, the program focuses on rebuilding and recovery, helping people regain stability, confidence and control over their future.
Verdella is engaging and interactive and includes guided activities, expert-led insights and practical tools across key areas such as financial independence, career rebuilding, legal considerations, self-care and social connection.
By offering Verdella as part of your domestic and family violence workplace support, your organisation can:
Foster a safer, more supportive environment
Ensure employees or clients have access to meaningful, long-term recovery support
Reduce workplace risk and improve retention
Improve outcomes for victim-survivors of DFV

Recovery goes beyond crisis support
While crisis intervention serves an indisputably important role in disrupting cycles of DFV, many survivors struggle with rebuilding their lives after leaving the situation. Some fall back into harmful cycles.
Verdella is the next step for survivors, offering them the tools to rebuild their lives, regain stability and move forward with confidence.
The online DFV recovery program is structured into nine modules, which can be completed in any order, allowing participants to choose what’s most relevant to them and revisit topics as needed.
These topics include:
Practical progress
Mapping your future
Building a workable plan
Taking action
Prioritising self-care
Reclaiming your power
Each module takes around two hours but is divided into smaller activities, so survivors can progress in 15-20 minute sessions. The program is designed to be manageable and empowering, not overwhelming.

FAQs
Who funds Verdella?
Verdella is free to participants, made possible through annual licensing agreements with their workplaces and community organisations.
Employers and services can provide blanket access to all employees, so anyone who needs support has the opportunity to rebuild and recover without having to disclose their experiences.
How do we know if our employees need this kind of support?
Domestic and family violence (DFV) often goes unspoken in the workplace, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t affecting employees.
Statistics show that approximately 62% of women who have experienced or are currently experiencing DFV are in the paid workforce. Similarly, 1 in 7 men have experienced emotional abuse by a current or previous cohabiting partner since the age of 15. Many of these individuals struggle with mental and physical health challenges, financial hardship and job insecurity.
Even if employees haven’t disclosed their experiences, providing a structured online DFV recovery program ensures support is available when it’s needed.
How does Verdella fit into our existing employee assistance program (EAP)?
EAPs provide valuable short-term counselling, but they are not designed for long-term recovery coaching. Verdella complements EAP services by offering:
A structured, self-paced program survivors can access in their own time.
Practical guidance on finances, career rebuilding, self-care and future planning.
A confidential option for employees who may not want to disclose their situation through HR or EAP channels.
By offering both EAP and Verdella, workplaces can provide a more comprehensive support system for employees or clients impacted by DFV.
How can we communicate this program?
It’s important to introduce Verdella as part of your organisation’s broader commitment to employee or client wellbeing, not just as a crisis response. WorkHaven can provide communication toolkits to help launch the program in a way that:
Normalises long-term DFV recovery as an employee support initiative.
Enables services to provide ongoing assistance.
Encourages access without requiring disclosure. Employees don’t need to inform HR or managers.
Reinforces confidentiality, so employees or clients feel safe using the program.
We recommend incorporating Verdella into internal wellbeing communications, employee or client resource portals and training materials.
How can I help someone access Verdella?
If you know someone who could benefit from Verdella, you can:
Share information discreetly. Let them know Verdella is available through your organisation with no approval required.
Direct them to the sign-up process. Participants only need an email to register.
Emphasise privacy. Remind them they can access Verdella without informing HR or managers or support workers and work through it at their own pace.
If you’re unsure how to start the conversation, WorkHaven can help with guidance materials to help leaders and employees offer support in a safe, respectful way.
